Enjoy healthful, natural products to tone your skin, shine your hair, relax you, and make you look and feel better. And there is no need to buy expensive salon products!

Most ingredients can be purchased in your supermarket. Rosewater can be bought at a natural foods store or pharmacy. Rosewater is a gentle astringent; substitue witch hazel if you have no rosewater. Almond oil can be found at a natural foods store. Cocoa butter can be bought at a pharmacy.

Before using any natural beauty concoction, please test a dab on the underside of your forearm to make sure it will not irritate your skin. Wait several hours. If no reaction occurs, then it should be safe to use the product.

IMPORTANT: If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in a recipe, do NOT use the product.

Always wash your hands well before making and using your beauty products. Don't transfer the dirt and bacteria from your hands to your product or your face!

Oatmeal Scrub:
Oatmeal is mild and soothing for the skin. Buy old-fashioned oatmeal, not the quick cooking (instant) kind. Grind 1/4 cup in a very clean coffee grinder, blender, or food processor until oatmeal is very fine.
Use 1 teaspoon of the ground oatmeal with enough water to make a paste. Rub gently onto face. Rinse well with lukewarm water.
Store remaining ground oatmeal in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.

Egg Mask:

Watermelon Quick Tone:
2 cubes or balls of fresh watermelon (no seeds)
1 tablespoon rosewater
1 tablespoon filtered water

Mix water and rosewater. Mash in watermelon. Apply to face. Leave 3 minutes and rinse off.

Green Tea Skin Refresher:

1/2 cup filtered water
2 green tea bags

Boil water. Steep tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove bags and allow liquid to cool. (Save tea bags for Puffy Eye Treatment.) Gently splash cooled tea onto face (or other part of your body). Allow to dry. Do not rinse.

Fruit Tea Refresher:

1/2 cup filtered water
2 herb-fruit tea bags (examples: Celestial Seasonings Cranberry or Raspberry herb teas)

Boil water. Steep tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove bags and allow liquid to cool. (Save tea bags for Puffy Eye Treatment.) Gently splash cooled tea onto face (or other part of your body). Allow to dry. Do not rinse.

Cocoa Butter Cream:

1/4 cup cocoa butter
1 tablespoon almond oil
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Thoroughly clean a small jar. Allow jar to dry completely. Mix together cocoa butter, almond oil, and vanilla extract. Use clean, dry spatula to put mixture into jar. (If you wish, you may gently heat the cocoa butter first in a glass or ceramic bowl before mixing in the other ingredients. In this case you can pour mixture into jar.) Label jar and store in a cool, dry place. Use after a shower. Also good for your hands before bedtime.

Puffy Eye Treatment:

Allow used tea bags to cool (or wet dry bags). Squeeze out excess water. Bags should be moist, but not dripping. Lie down and place one bag over each eye. Rest 15 minutes. If you use used tea bags, make sure you use them the same day. Don't keep the wet bags overnight.

Summer Green Hair Conditioner:

1/2 ripe avocado
1/2 cup plain yogurt

Mash avocado into yogurt and blend well. Apply to wet hair, massaging in thoroughly. Allow to sit for 20 minutes. Shampoo and rinse well.
If you have oily hair, add 1 tablespoon lemon juice to mixture.

Herbal Hair Rinse:

Silky Bath:

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Mix and add to bath water. Relax and soak for 15 minutes.

Relaxing Bath:

1/4 cup dried chamomille or 4 chamomille tea bags
